Easy going!!! Volcanoes Bromo and Ijen
Day 1: Surabaya – Tosari/Cemaralawang
Our guide picks you up at Juanda Airport, Surabaya. You can choose: we go either to Tosari and stay for the night in Bromo Cottages of we drive to Cemaralawang to stay in Hotel Cemara Indah or Hotel Lava View.
Day 2: Tosari/Cemaralawang – Mt Pananjakan – Mt Bromo – Tosari/Cemaralawang – Ijen
In the morning we wake you at 03.30. After you’ve get dressed, we leave for Mt Pananjakan, which is with it’s 2.702 m the highest view point in the surrounding. At Mt Pananjakan we will drink some coffee or tea. Hereafter we guide you to the sand sea that you will have to cross (walking or on horseback) before you climb the stairs leading to the crater of Mt Bromo. After your return to the car it will be around 09.00 am and drive you back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we continue to Ijen and have a stopover in Pasir Putih Beach. We arrive in Sempol, at the foot of Mt Semeru, around 4.30 pm. We spent the night in Catimor Homestay or Arabika Homestay. Both are situated in a coffee plantation.
Day 3: Ijen – Malang
At 5 o’clock in the morning we leave for Paltuding, the starting point to hike to the top of Mt Ijen. Along the road we encounter sulphur-miners, who carry sulphur from the bottom of the crater to the road at the foot of the mountain. They carry each trip up to eighty kilo of sulphur. After everybody is ready to leave, we hike back to Paltuding. From there we drive to Malang. In Malang you can stay the night in Graha Cakra or Kartika Graha.
Day 4: Malang – Surabaya
At ten o’clock in the morning we leave for a trip around Malang, sightseeing. On our two hours drive to the Juanda Airport we will have lunch.
