We continue to Ijen. You can choose two roads: one is via traditional villages where we can stop and walk around. The second route is via pasir putih (white beach) in Besuki. Before sunset we arrive in Sempol, near Ijen, where we spent the night in a coffee plantation owned by the government. You have time to take a bath in a mini pool filled with water from the hot spring in the neighborhood.

At 5 o’clock in the morning we leave for Paltuding, the starting point to hike to the top of Mount Ijen. Along the road we encounter sulphur-miners, who carry sulphur from the bottom of the crater to the road at the foot of the mountain. They carry each trip up to eighty kilo of sulphur, very impressive. At the top you have enough time to walk around. After everybody is ready to leave, we hike back to Paltuding.
